Product Description
For powder activated carbon, it is generally produced from coal or wood raw material. Wood activated carbon is usually used in food, beverage, and medicine industry.
Coal based activated carbon originates from coal that has undergone a steam activation process. It has three different types of raw material base material - bituminous, anthracite, & lignite, consisting of micro, meso and macro pore structures. During activation, millions of pores are created on the surface of the carbon, increasing the total surface area. This unique pore distribution makes coal based activated carbon ideal to remove small to large molecular structures.
Typical applications include but are not limited to odor control in liquid & vapor phase applications, improve taste in liquids, liquid decolorization and purification of wastewater & potable water. Coal base carbon is also available in granular, extruded (Pelletized), and powder forms.

Application
Powdered carbons provide faster adsorption than granular or pellet carbons since the diffusion route of the molecules to the pores is much shorter owing to the small particle size. Powdered carbons are mainly used in water applications, and also can be used for flue gas treatment for removal of heavy metals and dioxins, where they would be injected into the gas stream.
